Maintenance & Care
Wood is a natural product and will naturally shrink and expand with fluctuation of temperature and humidity. With all wood flooring it is highly important to ensure the relative humidity is maintained. Relative humidity must be maintained between 45% and 60% and the temperature is no lower than 10 °C ( 50 °F) , ideally between 18 °C (64 °F) and 22 °C ( 71 °F). Should the humidity levels drop below 45%, wooden parts may crack and split in the centre, and the wear layer of solid wood may delaminate. Humidity levels higher than 60% may cause the flooring to warp.
During installation any floor covering should be taped to the baseboard or shoe moulding with a low adhesion tape. When taping flooring covering sheets, they should be only taped to each other. Never tape directly onto the hardwood flooring.
Abrasive dirt such as sand, street dirt, grit and cat litter can damage any hardwood floor. Protect your floor by using entrance mats and area rugs. Regular cleaning or vacuuming of these rugs will prevent accumulation of dirt. Felt protectors under the legs of all pieces of furniture will prevent damage caused by scratching .
UV finish is highly resistant against liquids; however, we do recommend all liquids and spills be wiped off as soon as possible to avoid penetration between the boards.
Clean only with industry approved hardwood flooring cleaners.
